Congressman Mark Meadows (NC-11)

On May 5, 2016, in Private Property Rights, by FreedomForum

In drafting our Constitution, our founders created a central government, limited by that contract, with the obligation to protect and secure our Natural Law Rights and to provide for the general welfare of all citizens, equally. These men of incredible intelligence and moral character understood that, while power ultimately resided in the sovereign individual, the power of the central government must be derived from separate sources to maintain proper balance.

The members of the House of Representatives, elected directly by popular vote of the citizens, speak and act as the voice of the citizens. The members of the Senate, originally appointed by each state, were meant to represent the interests of their individual state. The Seventeenth Amendment mandated direct election of senators by the people, effectively reducing state influence and sovereignty.  A body of wise elders, the Electoral College, was supposed to choose the head of the Executive Branch, the President.

Emboldened by the progressive-statist movement and it’s relentless lust for control over the individual, the central government has usurped authority by constitutional amendment, Supreme Court decisions, bureaucratic tyranny, and unconstitutional executive orders. The power of We the People and the individual states has been eclipsed and, in many cases, eliminated.

This trend has been further accelerated by the appearance of a “ruling class” of oligarchs, who have exempted themselves from the laws they enact for the people to obey, ignore their pre-election promises, and act to augment unconstitutional federal overreach for their own personal gain.

Congressman Mark Meadows and Dr. Dan EichenbaumDr. Dan’s guest on Freedom Forum Radio this weekend is one Representative who has had the courage to stand for the people of his district and refuse to bow to the GOP establishment in Washington and in our state. Congressman Mark Meadows, NC-11, was one of the founders of the House Freedom Caucus and was at the tip of the spear in ousting Speaker John Boehner from power. Congressman Meadows consistently votes to protect private property rights against bureaucratic overreach and follows the word of the Constitution.

Dr. Dan and Congressman Meadows will discuss the congressman’s past record, what he plans for the future, and his philosophy of governance that appeals so strongly to those of us who understand the Constitution and the individual freedom it is was meant to protect and secure.

After a 27-year career as a small business owner, Mark Meadows was elected to Congress in 2012 by the people of Western North Carolina.  Congressmen Meadows serves on the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee where he Chairs the Subcommittee on Government Operations, which has oversight jurisdiction over federal agencies, the Executive Office of the President, the Postal Service, the Freedom of Information Act, and more. He also serves on the House Foreign Affairs Committee and the House Transportation and Infrastructure Committee.

Congressman Meadows:I am almost through reading a book concerning Mr. Lincoln and the 39th Congress. What a corrupt congress! You should read the book. It was written in 1999, and boy, does he hit the nail on the head. I am amazed how the current prez parallels Lincolns. And, the Congress, rotten. He says the enactment of the 13th amendment(and their wording at the end) gave them power for what they called the New America. If this amendment were nullified(for good reasons-their corrupt intent) all the ones following would be null and void too. If you are interested in the book, I can provide further information on how to obtain it. The problems in this country go back to that congress and a little time prior to it.

Harry Martin, I agree with you whole heartedly. Another great book about Lincoln and his corrupt shredding of our constitution is ‘When in the course of Human events: Arguing the case for Succession’ by Charles Adams. These are NOT the stories I learned in Gubment Skoolls.
