Can Elon Musk’s New “America Party” Save the USA
When the established government is out of control and unresponsive to the rights of its people, rational citizens seek to replace the corrupt government with one that will obey the Constitution and the rule of law. Contentious times, however, often serve as the incentive for the resurgence of small political parties and the formation of new ones.
The concepts of individual freedom, personal responsibility, limited government, free market economy, and private property were the philosophy of our nation’s founders. That philosophy is the foundation of our the Declaration of Independence, the Constitution and the Bill of Rights.
Today, these constitutional protections are being ridiculed, ignored, abused, altered, and eradicated by the elected and appointed government officials whose primary ambition is self-enrichment and a lust for power.
After the first attempt to assassinate President Trump, Elon Musk became one of the GOP’s top megadonors. Elon spent over a quarter BILLION dollars to help Trump win reelection. He became a trusted confidant and advisor to Trump during and after the campaign, helping to form Trump’s financial and regulatory policy.
While President Trump worked with Congress to draft the One Big Beautiful Bill Act (BBB), Musk became increasingly concerned about out-of-control spending and increased deficit. One day after President Trump signed the BBB into law, Elon Musk formed the America Party declaring the two-party system broken.

Our electoral system is a two-party system in which the winner takes all. Voters must accept all positions of the party, regardless of whether they agree with them all. Parliamentary systems, like that in Great Britain and most of Europe, are made up of multiple smaller parties. Each party is formed to support a limited, specific ideological platform. This allows a citizen to vote for a party whose platform covers issues of interest to them.
Forming a government requires a coalition of splinter groups. The election is not winner takes all. In proportional representation, you vote for the party that reflects your ideology. Since there’s no reason not to vote your conscience, a wide range of parties up and down the ideological spectrum can exist. If your party affiliation is Green or Libertarian and either gets 20% of the vote, the party then gets 20% of the seats in the legislature.
Historically, the most successful third party was Teddy Roosevelt in 1912 with 27%. He was a former president with good name recognition. Ross Perot in 1992 came in with 19%. Perot was an unknown but had enormous personal wealth. Musk’s third-party effort is most similar to that of Perot.
Historian Richard Hofstadter said, “third parties are like bees: once they have stung, they die. They sting and then they die because one of the major parties appropriates their message.” Third parties, therefore, can produce important changes in the political system without taking power.
Elon Musk played a pivotal role in the 2024 elections as a financial contributor and as a political advisor to Donald Trump. After Trump’s victory, Musk used his business acumen and talent to unravel the layers of corruption that continue to destroy the financial and political health of our country.
Very much like Trump in his first term, Elon Musk seems to have misunderstood the mechanisms necessary for success in changing federal government policies. Trump did learn those lessons, but Musk couldn’t accept Trump’s compromising to achieve partial victories. Starting a third party is counterproductive. The Trump-Musk team was achieving significant success. Musk’s third party could derail the train and prevent the American recovery we need.

there are 2 prerequisites for a successful liberty oriented 3rd political party:
1. replace Plurality Voting with Score/Range Voting [https://www.rangevoting.org]
2. create a platform centered around Natural Law, and by extension, Natural Rights.
#2 could occur first, but without Score/Range Voting, it’s an up-cliff battle and will most likely split the Republican Party vote. such is why Plurality Voting needs to be eliminated ASAP.
