Dr. Dan sits down with businessman, Mark Cates, to discuss Asheville City economic issues.  Mr. Cates will share with us the findings of his comprehensive research efforts into the fiscal policies and priorities of the City Council.

Mark Cates is an Engineer with a specialization in Space Systems from the University of Florida.

As a contractor for the US Air Force, he worked in the Air Warfare Center at Eglin Air Force Base.  Mr. Cates worked in mission planning and developed software tools to support engineering development efforts for the U-2 and SR-71 reconnaissance aircraft.

He was a valued member of the British, Israeli and US Air Forces Electronic Warfare Task Force.

Mr. Cates left government work behind in the mid 90’s to start his own business.  Since that time, he has built three successful start-up companies and has over 15 years experience in both large and small business environments.
