America and Great Britain: A History of Shared Roots
It is a clear fact that the American and British nations and their citizens share a common historical philosophy and deep roots that bind us together. Our two nations face similar challenges in the incredibly dangerous world of today. Unsurprisingly, true patriots in both nations agree on the root causes of these issues and on potential solutions to protect the freedom and prosperity of our progeny.
In the year 1215, a defiant group of English knights and nobles forced their ruler, King John of England, to sign a document known as the Magna Carta, which set limits on the authority of the British monarchy. Clauses 39 and 40 protected the rights of criminals in legal proceedings (trial by a jury of one’s peers and habeas corpus) and were formally adopted in 1628 (The English Petition of Right) and 1679 (Habeas Corpus Act).
The framers of our Constitution were heavily influenced by the Magna Carta especially rights granted to individuals and actions prohibited to the federal government. Article I, Section 9 protects Habeas Corpus, and Article III, Section 2 provides for Trial by Jury. The greatest impact of the British compact, however, was on the Bill of Rights. The requirements for Due Process in criminal proceedings, prohibition of taxation without representation, and safeguards for an individual’s life, liberty, and property are directly referenced.

Dr. Dan’s guest on Freedom Forum Radio this weekend is Paul Golding, founder and leader of Britain First. Dr. Dan and Paul Golding sat down this Independence Day to discuss our common heritage and the international political conflicts both nations are facing.
Paul Golding was born in London in 1982. In 1999 he became involved in patriotic politics. He served as Director of Publicity and Director of Communications for a former political party and was elected as a local councillor in 2009. In 2011, he founded the Britain First movement with a membership of only three individuals. Paul Golding is a Christian.
Great Britain is currently experiencing a serious threat to its cultural heritage, traditions, and individual freedoms because of uncontrolled mass immigration, allowed and encouraged by those in control of parliament. The leadership and elected officials of both the Conservative and Labour Parties in Great Britain are bought and paid for. They do the bidding of the wealthy elite and labor unions who have purchased their votes and access to the mechanisms of government. That should be a familiar story to us.
Contentious times often serve as the incentive for the formation of new political parties. Britain First is a new and successful political party that is committed to the maintenance of British national sovereignty, independence, and freedom. Their party principles are in line with conservative ideology in our country.
The men and women of Britain First are our allies in the world-wide battle against international socialism. We must fight together to preserve the natural law rights of individuals, limited government, free market economy, personal responsibility, and individual freedom.
